In late December 2019 the WHO reported an outbreak of pneumonia in
China with severe acute respiratory syndrome. Currently several countries
have reported cases with the majority of these having links to China and
person-to-person transmissions. The first confirmed case of COVID-19
reported in East Africa was reported on the 13th of March 2020 in Kenya.
Since then, a number of countries in East Africa have reported a number
of cases of COVID-19.
